What is GPS?

GPS is the abbreviation for Global Positioning System. Information is sent from satellites to the earth. Based on this information, devices with a GPS receiver can determine a position. This is usually accurate to within a few metres. All our tracking devices have an integrated GPS receiver. Even a commercially available “navigation device” has a GPS receiver, but in common parlance it is incorrectly referred to only as GPS.

How accurate is the tracking position of a GPS device?

All of our GPS tracking devices have modern GPS receivers that usually determine the position to within a few metres.

They use not only the GPS satellites but also GLONASS and BEIDU. This means that they are no longer pure GPS devices and should actually be called GPS-GLONASS-BEIDU devices.

Do the GPS devices also send abroad?

In principle, yes. The devices have a SIM card which sends the data to our servers via mobile phone networks. Depending on the tariff, all EU countries and Zone 1 countries are included by default. However, roaming can be blocked at the customer’s request, in which case the devices do not transmit data.
